THERE GOES THE LAST DJ, WHO PLAYS WHAT SHE WANTS TO PLAY…

Right after taking an ibuprofen for fighting a slight headache caused by a bit of excess last night, I’m assessing my dj’n performance last night and gotta admit I’m quite proud of myself for several reasons.

On one hand, I hadn’t djd by myself for at least 3 years, and although I missed my friend and partner Dra Feelgood it was great and time passed really quick. I thought I might had problems covering 4 hours of music, and  with something as stupid as having a cigarette at some point. I managed doing both successfully. Actually there were technical problems with one of the CD players, but that didn’t stop me from my mission.

On the other hand I hadn’t prepared anything at all as I used to in the past, not a list of songs, but some kind of style guide, nor marking which songs would suit the best for my interests. I basically worked with pre-listening device, thus songs were definitely different than in  previous performances. Also I chose some albums I hadn’t played before as for instance Orange Goblin’s Coup de Grace, or played songs I haven’t in ages.

And yes, An American Trilogy ruled for closing the session, and that was absolutely awesome!

I was surrounded by close friends and it pleased me a lot they enjoyed, but what really made me glad was two people came to congratulate me for the music choice, and for asking which band was sounding in that moment. There was this guy, a customer, about to leave with his girlfriend, he told her to wait for a sec, came to me and said:

Nowadays there are very few rock pubs in which good music can be listened. This is definite one of those and you’re really playing very good music.

Cool, ain’t it?

I tried to keep track of what I was playing. At a certain point I missed writing some of the songs due to the problems with the damn CD player, but here is the list, so you can get a clearer picture of what my session was about. Hope you like it, and wish you can join me in the future.
